Coxhead Swing Bridge re-opens in March

COXHEAD Swing Bridge (20) on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal will be repaired in early March.

It was in the middle of January that the bridge suffered damage to a barrier by a vehicle strike, meaning it could not be operated for navigation, but stuck in its lowered position for road traffic, Keith Gudgin reports.

The problem preventing repair was that the part needed was not readily available and had to be sourced, but has now been obtained with delivery promised during the week commencing the 2nd March.

As soon as this is obtained, the repair will be carried out and the swing bridge again re-opened to navigation.
