No access from Trent to Chesterfield Canal

AT PRESENT there is no access either to or from the Chesterfield Canal to the tidal Trent.

West Stockwith Lock connecting the Chesterfield Canal with the tidal Trent is currently out of action, Keith Gudgin reports.

Stuck on fast flowing tidal river

It is only to be hoped that the inspection will not take as long as the one on Arley Aqueduct on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal that has been extended to four weeks, otherwise boaters will be stuck on a fast flowing tidal river.

As there is mention of a failed power pack, perhaps some urgency will be given to its quick replacement.
