THE Arley Aqueduct on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal that 'leaked' in January requires a futher two weeks closure for inspection.

Situated between bridges 63 and 64 at Burnley, though it has been drained of water Canal & River Trust and Lancashire County council need to carry out further inspections of the structure, Keith Gudgin reports.

Extended to 21st February

This means the stoppage is being extended up to the 21st February to carry out the inspection.

There is not intimation why it should need so long to inspect, as this means it will have been closed for a month for it to be undertaken.
