ONE canal bridge at least will no longer be damaged by vehicles as it is being replaced.

A new bridge will replace Horse Close Bridge (180) in Skipton to serve a new housing estate, Alan Tilbury reports.

Horse Close BridgeSecond wider road bridge

Craven District Council’s Policy Committee has proposed to build a second, wider road bridge next to the existing listed bridge over the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Alan Tilbury reports.

The new bridge is being funded with a grant of £2.17 million from the Homes England Accelerated Construction Fund.

Limited to pedestrians and cyclists

Should this be approved, the new road bridge will be built next to the existing canal bridge, that will then be limited to pedestrians and cyclists only.
