Thief leaped into canal to escape police

 AFTER a spate of thefts from Bentley Bridge Retail Park in Wednesfield, police staged a swoop.

This resulted in five arrests with one of the men attempting to escape by leaping into the Wyrley & Essington Canal that runs by the retail park, but as he was floundering officers dragged him out and he was arrested, Alan Tilbury reports.

Taken from various outlets

All five of the alleged shoplifters were arrested and hundreds of pound worth of goods recovered that had been taken from various outlets in the retail centre.  It was discovered that three of the men were wanted for multiple offences.
