Not 'better by water' we are told

I HAVE to admit I am somewhat confused by Canal & River Trust's advice to keep away from the water this coming holiday time, writes T. Lang.

It tells us that if we frequent the bars by the side of a waterway, picturing the Manchester bars, we should not then go anywhere near the canals.

Don't drink and drown

So what has happened to its Better by Water campaign?  It seems it is being replaced by a Don't Drink and Drown campaign.  That to me seems more sensible, especially in Manchester, the waterway drowning capital of the country that now stands at 76 such deaths since 2007.

I don't expect there will be many Better by Water signs around there!
