£750,000 for cycle track

DAVENTRY District Councillors have agreed to fund a new cycle track linking Braunston and Daventry, utilising the towpath.

The £730,000 scheme is set to run from the Middlemore housing estate and upgrade the Grand Union towpath and up to Braunston Tunnel to Daventry, Rodney Hardwick reports.

A safe route

At the full council meeting it was stated that this would provide provide cyclists and pedestrians with a safe route from Eastern Way in Daventry all the way to Braunston.

At the eastern end of the tunnel Orbit Homes are building 450 homes, shops and a school between the A 361 and the tunnel alongside the towpath.
