Trip boat in sad state

I WAS walking around Stratford-upon-Avon at the weekend and came across one of the famous Avon trip boats of the 1950s, writes Roger Fox.

AvonTripBoatIt was in a rather sad state on a trailer in her owner's yard.

Small fleet

Titania was one of a small fleet run by the Clifford Family, alongside their stonemasonry business. The boats were stored on trailers in sheds at their premises during the winter months.

Titania requires substantial work before she can sail again as several planks are missing on the port side. But it would be good to see her on the Avon again.
