Why the same work again?

I AM just unable to understand why those locks on the Leicester Section should need the same attention again, writes James Henry.

I have checked back on your site and unearthed Victor Swift's report when he was obviously there telling of the work to prevent leakage and your photographs of the site [Ervon's Lock] clearly showing the work and the equipment there together with the imprinted date of his report, which as you stated was just 17 months ago.

And now at that particular lock it is stated on the CaRT stoppage notice that virtually the same work is to be done but this time it will take a fortnight.

They are not telling me that this work needs doing again after just 17 months, and not only on this lock but another in the same situation. [Whetstone Lane Lock] There is decidedly something wrong here if work lasted only that time, and very wrong if it wants doing again and takes twice as long.

It just does not make sense. Somebody is taking the Michael somewhere there is nothing so sure as that, and Canal & River Trust should give an explanation.
