Electric scooter riders advised to take to towpaths

A COMPANY selling electric scooters is advising its customers to take to the towpaths.

At the moment it is illegal to ride an electric scooter on the roads and as it is also unclear about riding them on pavements in this country the companies selling them are advising customers to take to the paths.

ElectricScootersRegent's Canal

One London company is suggesting the towpath of the Regent's Canal 'that is paved' would be ideal for riding scooters.

It is the current transport Act that forbids riding electric scooters on public roads in this country, though they are allowed in other countries, particularly America where they are extremely popular. The law is being looked at to see if it can be amended to include the scooters.

Extra visitors

So in the meantime owners have only the paths and the towpaths. Nothing has been heard from Canal & River Trust about their use on towpaths, but perhaps as extra visitors, they will be welcome!
