Now it's the South East

IT IS not only the northern waterways that are suffering closures, but now the South East waterways are failing.

The Stort is now closed to navigation due to lack of rainfall between locks 1 and 2, meaning there is no access from or to the Lee Navigation to the river, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Closed until further notice

The worry though is about the fish, that are short of oxygen, so it is being pumped into the water to keep them alive, with the navigation closed until further notice.

But the trust gives us not one but two of its 'Cartisms' by advising boaters to make use of alternate route—on a river that simply goes to its terminus with no connecting waterways! Then tells us that the navigation will re-open as soon as clearance works are completed. But there are no works and nothing to clear—just the shortage of water!
