Dangerous river

YESTERDAY the Trent, being fed by the melting snow of the Pennines via the Derwent was well in flood.

Yet there was no red light showing at Sawley locks, and worse still, both the Trent and Soar were shown as 'open'.

Sawley on redWho is responsible?

Of course there is no longer any lock keeper at Sawley and it was too early in the year for volunteers, so who is now responsible for the lights and and the board for the river?

Neither light was showing, just the board giving the information that the river was 'open' yet the gauge below the lock was clearly on red as can be seen on the photograph, and with the river in flood it really was dangerous.  Does anyone care?
