Boater fell in dry dock

A BOATER had to be rescued from the empty dry dock on the Oxford Canal at Fenny Compton after falling in.

He fell approximately 10ft, but hit the rails at the bottom of the dock fracturing both ankles, making it difficult for him to be rescued, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Lying in the water

The West Midlands Ambulance Service found the 59 years old man lying in the residue of water at the bottom of the dry dock, unable to move.

Eventually, with the aid of lifting equipment, by the attending fire fighters, he was brought out of the dock, with the paramedics placing his legs in vacuum splints, after which he was taken to hospital where he is said to be 'comfortable'.
