Another 'quickie'

ANOTHER 'quickie' was the clearing of what was described as a 'large oil spill' on the Grand Union Canal.

This occurred closing the navigation at Bridge 99 at Bletchley on Saturday morning, Keith Gudgin reports.

It was spreading over the water, so the navigation had to be closed whilst the oil was being contained and cleared  to stop any boats further spreading the slick.

Knowing what to do

But again, with a local team quickly on the job knowing exactly what to do, it was all cleared the same day and the navigation re-opened at 6pm!

What a difference from having contractors doing the work, having to first view the situation, then decide a 'method of work', and finally getting down to the job days later after the slick had most likely spread.
