Cancelled winter work back-fires

WORK that should have been done as a winter stoppage has certainly back-fired.

As a lock gate beam has snapped-off! Keith Gudgin reports.

So the Marsworth Flight on the Grand Union Canal is out off action with a major part of the gate beam on Lock 42 now missing.

This of course closes the flight from locks 39 to 45.

All we are told is that this will be updated as the situation develops. But again it's the result of lack of maintenance as we are told the beam has been in a precarious state for a while, and should obviously have been replaced.
