Anderton Lift re-opens

THE Anderton Boat Lift that moves boats between the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Weaver has now re-opened after its failure in late April.

Over the week-end it was moving the boats that had been stranded, mostly on the river, but is now fully operational, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Manufacture

The delay to the repair was caused as it was necessary to manufacture the components needed for its repair.

Being 150 years old this year, it is not possible to get 'off the shelf' parts, so most things needed for its repairs have to be specially manufactured.
