TWO more illegally moored boats have been removed from the Thames and destroyed by Kingston Council.

This follows the two previous boats that were removed from the river by the council in January (Unlawfully moored Thames boats removed) and is part of the Operation Riverside, a joint initiative between four councils, two police forces and the Environment Agency to get rid of the many illegally moored boats, Mick Fitzgibbons tells us.

Narrowboats and cruisers

The various structures erected by the boaters have also been removed. It is understood that both narrowboats and cruisers have been removed.

A spokesman for Kingston Council points out that people who illegally moor their boats within its river boundary are not welcome, and with enforcement officers patrolling, any such boats will be removed.
