Dunham visitor moorings out of use through flood damage

THE recent flood left part of the visitors moorings at Dunham damaged and stuck up out of the water.

This means that these Trent moorings cannot be used, Keith Gudgin reports.

With the moorings in such a condition they are not deemed safe, as now the flood has subsided they have been able to be inspected and the damage was found to be extensive.

Other essential work

A crane boat is required on site to carry out the repairs but, due to other essential works taking place on the network, Canal & River Trust tell it does not yet have a time scale as to when the crane boat will be available.

The closure of these moorings makes it a very long trip on the Trent and tidal Trent between available moorings.
