No rubbish disposal at Stone (as we told!)

IT WAS on Wednesday we told of the loss of the rubbish disposal facility at Stone on the Trent & Mersey.

And today, Friday, Canal & River Trust give more details.

It tells that bins at Stone have been temporarily removed, as the owners of the land didn't feel able to continue with the bins in the current location.

Pursuing other options

This is a well-used facility in a busy location, with the trust telling it is now actively pursuing other options in the Stone area, but that is likely to take a little while, as its land ownership is limited in the vicinity, and any new site will need to meet strict access and maintenance criteria to secure approval.

In the meantime, the best option for rubbish disposal will be the other facilities at Etruria and Great Haywood, as we stated.

The trust recognise this isn't a workable option for those boaters based in Stone, so are hoping to secure a temporary site in the town.
