Aston Marina Farm Shop to close

THE Farm Shop at Aston Marina on the Trent & Mersey Canal is to close, the owners believing that using the premises to extend the restaurant will be more successful.

The Farm Shop was one of the marina's early creations, but with the adjoining restaurant being unable to fulfil its bookings due to lack of space, getting rid of the shop means that its space will make the restaurant much larger, so it will be better able to cope with its bookings, Alan Tilbury reports.

Bookings turned away

At the moment bookings are being turned away with the limited capacity in the current restaurant, which is the basis, we are told, for closing the Farm Shop to make way for a larger restaurant, with a spokesman reflecting:

"Unfortunately, this will mean that the Farm Shop will be closed, but it's not a decision we have taken lightly."

"The Farm Shop is something we have been passionate about and genuinely enjoyed creating, but the popularity of the other areas of the business combined with the fact that yet another supermarket is set to open in Stone in the near future means that we have had to reconsider our position."

The shop will close on Sunday, 5th February.
