AS MOST of us are aware ducks now have their own lanes on the towpath, but what happens when there is no lane shown for the ducks?

They take over the whole towpath, as one did on the Kennet & Avon Canal near Reading when a German Shepherd tried to get past, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Stand-off

The duck, obviously well informed of his new powers given by Canal & River Trust, was in no way letting the dog go past, pictured here telling him so, that resulted in a dramatic stand-off.

The dog however, backed by its owner managed eventually to proceed along the towpath with the duck following, giving voice to its objection, until eventually it flew on to the waterway followed no doubt by a request to CaRT for one of its a duck lanes to be painted on that particular towpath.
