I was once very much involved with the Shropshire Union Canal Society (SUCS) and can but agree that it does most of the work on the Montgomery Canal, as someone in your columns suggested.
I was involved at the time putting up the tables and putting in moorings for picnics sites on the Shropshire Union Canal, and seem to remember you had pictures of these.
A pity
I agree with the person who wrote that it is a pity we do not read about its activities anymore, as I think it is right that it does a lot of good letting as many people as possible know of what you are doing to improve the canals.
Incidentally these are the only picnics sites I have ever seen on my travels around the canals, so SUCS has something to crow about, but perhaps there is now no one capable of writing, if I was still connected, I would have done.
