The stoppage notice states 'Fossdyke Canal, Navigation: Closed, Towpath: Open', yet it also states 'Please follow instructions from team on site'.
Confusing notices
Over the past few months there have been many confusing stoppage notices whilst in the past they were very clear, that leaves the impression someone new has taken over who knows little or nothing about the workings of the waterways.
Blaming boaters for leaving paddle open that drain pounds is obviously the work of someone who knows little of lock workings as leaving the paddles open of the gate through which a boat has vacated cannot drain a pound as it is the paddles on the top gate that hold the water and that must have been closed to allow the boat to descend, that have to also be open to drain the pound above.
However, concerning the Fossdyke, we are told that a dive team will sort the repair on the 25th of October.
