THE murder of a young woman on the towpath of the Calder & Hebble towpath over 50 years ago has been re-opened by the police.

Elsie Frost was stabbed to death on the towpath in October 1965, but since releasing the picture of a man in a duffel coat, 100 lines of enquiry are being pursued, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Never solved

The murder of the 20 years old girl in Wakefield was never solved, though it is known the man perpetrating the killing was thought to be wearing a duffel coat, as one was seen at the time near the scene of the crime.

A new witness has told the police that a man wearing a duffel coat was seen near the steps where Elsie had stumbled away from the waterway to get help, but died.

West Yorkshire Police, re-opened the murder hunt last year and are encouraged by the public response including the 100 new lines of inquiry.
