THE Elsan at Braunston is still out of use, Canal & River Trust confirm, as it is awaiting the delivery of spare parts.
It was our Mick Fitzgibbons who reported it to us as 'The Braunston stink' exactly four weeks ago, but it had been causing a health and safety hazard way before that.
Causing problems
In addition to the Elsan being out of order, there is orange fencing around the water point as well, causing problems for boaters, with one, Helen Gration telling us:
"It is ridiculous the services being out of action for so long, it was well over a month since we were able to use the Elsan, and it is causing us great problems as can be imagined. I don't see why CaRT cannot repair it more quickly, but everything seems to take forever these days."
All that the Trust state is 'we are awaiting delivery of mechanical components'. Further updates will be available early next week.
