Charged with towpath murder

A MAN has been charged with the Leeds & Liverpool Canal towpath murder that took place last Thursday.

Michaela Heaton, a 38 years old woman, was attacked as she walked along the canal towpath in Armley in Leeds, with head injuries causing her death, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Arrested at the scene

Kevin Whyment, who is 53,  was arrested at the scene, and has now been charged with her murder and remanded in custody by Leeds Magistrates' Court earlier. He will appear at Leed's Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police are attempting to discover her relatives and are appealing for witnesses.
