Floods cause cancellation

THE Thames Traditional Boat Rally held at Fawley Meadows at Henley has been cancelled as the ground is too waterlogged after the winter floods.

Even though this is not until July, the organisers believe the ground will still not have dried out, so they were left with no alternative but to cancel, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Disappointment

This is a great disappointment for many people as the rally has taken place annually for the past 36 years, yet it was also cancelled in 2012 because of flooding, just a week beforehand.

The event was planned for the week-end of the 19th and 20th of July, with about 200 traditional boats attending.

Planning however is going ahead for the event to be held next year.
