S&W serious towpath attack

A TOWPATH attack has taken place at Cookley near Kidderminster on the Staffs & Worcs Canal where a woman suffered a serious sexual assault.

This occurred late morning earlier this week, with the severity of the attack prompting the West Mercia Police to have launched a major search for the offender, deploying a helicopter and dog handlers, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Trace cyclist

The offender is described as white, aged about 20, with messy dark hair, and the police would like to trace a cyclist who passed the site of the attack shortly beforehand, who is described as being in his sixties with white shaggy hair.

The towpath was closed for the day whilst the area was combed for possible evidence.
