Boy drowns after bridge jumping

ONE of a gang of four boys jumping off a footbridge spanning the Cam just outside Cambridge has lost his life.

The 12 years old Andrew Collings was jumping off the bridge yesterday (Wednesday) at 6pm with three others, but failed to surface, resulting in a nine hours search, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Pulled from the river

Four fire crews, a rescue vehicle, five police cars and a police helicopter and paramedics joined the overnight search, with his body eventually being pulled from the river downstream.

The police are not treating the death as suspicious and have passed the case to the coroner.
