THE man who was arrested for the killing of boater David Tweddle during a mooring argument at Garstang on the Lancaster Canal has been charged and bailed.
David Shiels, aged 72, will stand trial in late October for the manslaughter of fellow boater David Tweddle.
Readers of narrowboatworld will remember the the incident where David Shiels' narrowboat collided with David Tweddle's cruiser at a mooring by the Th'Owd Tithe Barn pub late one evening, with David Tweddle collapsing on his boat and being unable to be revived.
David Shiels was arrested very quickly nearby, taken to Lancaster Police Station and detained, then subsequently appeared before Lancaster magistrates.
