De-watered to repair boat

Published: Thursday, 20 June 2013

A POUND of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal is being de-watered, and so closed, so that the trip boat can be repaired.

The pound is between locks 48E and 49E, where the tunnel trip boat will be moored whilst the pound is drained to effect repairs to the boat, though we are not told what repairs.

Waterway and towpath closed

The waterway will thus be closed on Wednesday 26th June whilst this is carried out and the pound re-filled.  The towpath too will be closed.

Boater Keith Gudgin wonders why CaRT cannot use one of its own boat yards to repair the boat, and asks if its people would close and de-water a canal so he could repair his boat?
