A MAN has been arrested as part of the police investigation into the murder of an illegal immigrant whose body was dumped in the Selby Canal.

The man's body was discovered in the waterway four months ago by an off-duty policeman who was fishing the stretch of water.

The victim had been living in the country illegally since 2001, using the assumed name of Bing Lin, taking six weeks after the discovery of his body for him to be named as detectives searched for clues as to his identity, which was eventually found to be Guan Chen.

It was discovered that he had lived in numerous locations around the country, with his last known address in London.
