'Tasting' the Shroppie

Published: Wednesday, 01 May 2013

A NARROWBOAT is being prepared at Norbury Junction, for giving people a 'taste' of the Shropshire Union Canal,  appropriately named the Shropshire Star.

The 70ft narrowboat will be a trip boat, taking passengers on cruises along the waterway from its base at Norbury Junction, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Launched

The boat will be officially launched at a naming ceremony on Saturday, (4th May) as part of the Norbury & Shrewsbury Canal Trust's Bank Holiday Festival.

It is not a new boat, having previously been used as a trip boat operating under a different name on the Staffs & Worcs Canal, but has been completely refurbished inside.

The Shropshire Star will operate as a trip boat at weekends from May to November, with the possibility of special Christmas cruises.
