IT WAS in the early hours of yesterday morning (Saturday) that Jan Mable at Oxley Marine raised the alarm when she see saw smoke and flames coming from a building used for storage of stock—beer and engineering—Orph Mable writes.

On-site personnel, predominantly Phil, attacked the site of the fire with extinguishers. Two fire tenders then attended and the building was doused down.

No-one injured

When the building was declared safe at approximately 05.45hrs, the fire out, the senior fire officer reported that it appeared to have started in an electrical consumer unit that had suffered some water ingress. Thankfully no-one was injured and the losses appear relatively minimal.

Despite all the fracas, Oxley was open for business as usual by 07.30hrs, with just a lot of clearing up and sorting through the debris for anything salvageable.
