Email: Another services lost

Published: Wednesday, 13 June 2012

At  Aldermaston on the  Kennet & Avon Canal there is a very good Elsan and self pump-out service, but on reaching there last week we were informed that the premises were now owned by the local council and not British Waterways.

Therefore it is the council who are responsible for maintenance. As such they have now given up on that aspect because of constant vandalism, and have fitted the door with their own locks so leaving boaters unable to use the facilities.

After speaking to some local people they were unaware of any vandalism to this premises.

Is it possible for someone at British Waterways to explain this to us?

Gerald Walmsley, N/b Hampshire Rose.

[The services are still listed by British Waterways as being available.]
