THE official launch of Canal & River Trust will not now take place in June as suggested.
The latest date is the 12th of July, and will take place across 12 sites in the country with the national event in Birmingham to include a two hours boat parade and even the possible attendance of Secretary of State, Caroline Spelman.

The event will be celebrated with 29,460 balloons, 48,750 metres of bunting and 25,000 stickers at a cost of £23,730.
The delay is blamed on on government's failure to give dates for parliamentary debates in both houses regarding the transfer order which will turn British Waterways into a trust. It was originally planned to be up and running in April.
