Another marina for the Lancaster

Published: Wednesday, 11 April 2012

ANOTHER new marina is planned for the Lancaster Canal with the promise of nearly 100 jobs.

This is now the normal procedure with marina applications, this time there is the promise up to 75 full-time and 20 part time jobs—though of course any boater realises no marina could support such a number of workers.

50 berths

An application has been submitted to Lancaster City Council for outline planning permission for a 50 berths marina at Carnforth, where there is already a British Waterways marina.

Another inducement is that it will be 'green' and produce power by a wind turbine, but this plan has rebounded, as it has caused concern to local residents by its size and the noise it would create.

Such have been the objections, that  Carnforth Town Council has called an extraordinary meeting to discuss the new proposals, which will take place at Carnforth Civic Hall on Monday, 16th April at 6.30pm.
