Tree closes Shroppie

THE Shropshire Union Canal has been closed all day today (Thursday)  owing to a tree falling over the waterway.

This was South of Bridge 59 at Woodseaves Cutting, and though contractors have been working all day it was still not cleared at 5pm, Richard Hall tells us.

There are six boats stuck at Tyrley though and some at the other end of the blockage too.
