What a stink

THE boaters living on their boats at the bank side moorings at Sharpness have been complaining about the stink from a new compost plant nearby, that was fixed.

But it was not, with even the few boats cruising the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal complaining about the stink around Sharpness.

Closed down

The plant had to be closed down, but 'improvements' were made during the summer and the plant started up again, but the smell was still there, though boaters admit it is not as bad as it was.

The outcome was that the plant had to be closed down again, but its operator believes the source of the smell has been identified, and the plant is expected to start once again within the next few days.

This is a 'green' system, in the form of an organic composting facility, but has proven to be anything but 'green' to those in its vicinity.
