Diglis Lock muddle

THERE was muddle at British Waterways on Monday concerning Diglis Lock, with a stoppage notice issued stating it was closed for all boats.

Boaters were told it was a component failure, and that an update would be issued when a completion date was known.

A log?

This of course threw plans for boaters on the river into disarray, with our contributor, Amy Dickerson, who was planning to head for Stourport to go down the Severn to Gloucester, wondering what to do. Then she discovered the lock keeper didn't even know about the stoppage!  It was no more that an obstruction stopping the lock doors closing—that was soon cleared!

Then British Waterways must have heard, for then came the notice that the lock is fully operational!  This is the lock that British Waterways tell us will be closed for six weeks in the season to replace cills...
