Still keeping secrets

NOTWITHSTANDING breaking the law by failing to disclose information in response to the Freedom of Information Act within the required 20 days, British Waterways has again failed to disclose  by 6th July as ordered.

It was just over a week ago that narrowboatworld reported that Alun Johnson of the Information Commissioners' Office had contacted British Waterways concerning breaches of the Freedom of Information Act, writes Allan Richards.

Four breaches

Four breaches of the act have occurred due to British Waterways not responding to requests within the 20 working days required by law despite 24 reminders, two requests for internal review and four complaints to the Information Commissioners' Office

Alun Johnson gave up to the 6th July to respond but the deadline has been missed with British Waterways stating it is having some difficulty pulling the information together. Quite what is so difficult about attaching a few documents to four emails, is not known!

It is understood that Mr Johnson will contact British Waterways again tomorrow—Friday.
