Email: Why 10 days?

I have just received, from British Waterways, a notice of a stoppage on the North Oxford Canal at Bridge 15, Ansty.

The duration is of 10 days and is to enable a third party to demolish the bridge.

I have but one question, why does it take 10 days to demolish a bridge if the canal is closed to navigation?
