Slow escape

ALLOTMENT thieves in Chorley used the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to escape with stolen items.

Their haul included two generators and various tools, and when the police were called it was discovered that the wheelbarrow tracks on which the stolen items were transported led to the waterway.

Escape planned

Three sheds were broken into, and it was obvious that the generators had been targeted by the thieves, and their escape using a boat had been planned.

The wheelbarrow tracks could be clearly seen leading from the sheds down to the nearby towpath where they disappeared.
