A bit of bribery

SCHOOL children picking litter from their estate in Swinton, were rewarded by a trip on a narrowboat and goodies for their efforts.

They had a trip along the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation from the activity centre at Swinton Lock, and were given a goody bag including a drink and fruit.  The picture shows the launch of the activity centre's Swinton Spirit.

Joined council workers

About 20 children had joined council workers last week to clear two skips of rubbish from the Fitzwilliam Estate in Swinton, with the litter picking organised by the Swinton Fitzwilliam Mutual group.

Councillor Ken Wyatt praised the children for their work and added:

"We decided to organise the trip for them as a thank you for all their hard work. There are a lot of young people living on the Fitzwilliam Estate and it helps them to take pride in their own area."
