Diesel war on the waterways

A BOATER selling red diesel from 20 litre containers on the Trent & Mersey and Coventry canals is upsetting the diesel suppliers along the waterways.

Graham of the narrowboat Mayflower is running a business which includes delivering red diesel in 20 litre plastic drums to narrowboats at selected locations on the Trent & Mersey and Coventry canals. His prices are, shall we say, very competitive, writes Ralph Freeman.

As you can imagine this has upset red diesel retailers in the area, who claim that what Graham is doing is illegal and does not comply with the RDCO and other regulations regarding the sale of diesel.

Complaining about prices

Naturally, Graham claims what he is doing is legal and above board and traders are really complaining about his prices!

I can see the argument from both sides, but to be perfectly honest, I know so little about the regulations involved, any comment by me would be worthless. I'm sure there are those of you out there that will correct that omission. Over to you readers!
