CLEAR WATER LOCK 63 on the Trent & Mersey Canal is closed to navigation.

This is due to a boat being stuck in the lock preventing the gates being closed. Keith Gudgin reports.

This is Lock 63 at Malkin's Bank on Heartbreak Hill.

This combined with leakage through the head gate has created a flow effect through the lock and is having an impact on pound levels further upstream.

Padlocks

Canal & River Trust explain that in light of this, and to ensure the safety of its customers and help maintain the upper pound levels, padlocks have been placed on Lock 62 and 64 to prevent access between these locks.

Meaning of course that Heartbreak Hill is closed for navigation.
