Taming the cyclists

THE Buckingham Canal Society at its Lock Ransom Weekend at Cosgrove Lock on the Grand Union Canal had their own method of slowing down the cyclists.

Here are Ray & Jayne Robinson's photos of the signs showing just how they did it!

The society is attempting to further the restoration of the old Stratford and Buckingham Canal arms, and organise events to raise cash and awareness towards their efforts.

The current event was this week-end, 24th and 24th July, with various attratctions and historic narrowboats amongst the many attending.  But held by the towpath, the organisers were aware of the problems cyclists could cause the public milling about the area, hence the notices.

The society hope for support to its endeavours to restore the two arms so that future generations can enjoy the canals,
