ONCE WRENBURY LIFT BRIDGE (20) is repaired concrete barriers will protect it.

Broken many times

The  bridge on the Llangollen Canal has been put out of action by its barriers being broken so many times, Keith Gudgin reports.

So the decision has been made to install concrete barriers to protect them after the bridge has been repaired after its last vehicle strike on the 28th September.

But first specialist contractors will be removing the damaged bridge substructure that will be repaired, and then the concrete barriers will be installed, that will surely make drivers more careful.

No date fixed

No date has yet been fixed for the work to begin.

There has been no mention of CCTV protecting the bridge, but as drivers will now be striking concrete instead of flimsy barriers, there is perhaps no need!
