IT IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal.
With it reopened from from Watford Lock 1 to Kilby Lock 30 at Leicester with no restrictions, Keith Gudgin reports.
This comes into force next Monday 3rd November with all restrictions lifted.
Watford Flight and Foxton Flight will revert to normal winter opening times they being open daily from 9:30am with the last boat in at 3pm.
Likely to close
However Canal & River Trust state that it anticipates that it is likely that it will have to close the section from Foxton Top Lock to Kilby Lock again next week.
It explaining—The continued lack of prolonged rainfall means that our reservoirs are depleted and the feed from them needs to be turned off to allow them to replenish. Without the reservoir feed we are unable to maintain adequate water levels to keep this section open.
