THE GRAND UNION CANAL from Calcutt Lock 1 (Top Lock) to Radford Bottom Lock 23 will be closed from the 5th of November.

The closure, Canal & River Trust tells, is necessary to help to conserve water, Keith Gudgin reports.

The last boat allowed into the flights will be 2pm. There are no temporary windows of passage.

Another closure

A further closure of the Grand Union Canal is at Marsworth Flight, locks 39 to 45 that is due to a broken Mitre post at Lock 40, closing the flight.

An engineer is making a visit today, Friday, with a view to 'conducting a repair tomorrow'.

And another closure

The Grand Union Canal is certainly suffering closures with another one, again through lack of water.
The closure is from Napton Junction to Radford Bottom Lock.

The trust explains—We are constantly reviewing the situation, and as soon as conditions improve sufficiently, we will make every effort to provide temporary windows of passage through the locks to allow boat movement. This will depend on water levels rising adequately, which will require sustained rainfall.
